**Update**I have been doing The Happy Body Program now for over two years and have nothing but positive things to say about it! It truly has become a part of my daily routine. I find it relaxing and continually strengthening. I pay much more attention to the quality and the quanity of the foods that I eat. In the past two years, I have really worked on making more home cooked, healthy meals for myself and my family.My review from below still holds true but the fact that I am still totally engaged and committed to the program is a sign of its quality. Frankly, I really wish more people knew about it! I love that the workout can be done anywhere and is very easy to keep up with on vacation. All you need are some free weights. From a weight loss perspective , I was finally able to lose and keep off the five to ten pounds that had always bothered me. I went down a size in clothes as well. But, by far, the most important thing about this program is how it affects your strength and posture. I am so happy to no longer focus on "cardio." If I need to run fast, go hiking, or chase after my kids, I can easily keep up. The program was recommended to me by a friend who had amazing results so I was inspired to order the book and see what it was all about. I started the program about five weeks ago and am already in better shape that I have been in years. I am someone who used to go to the gym fairly regularly but in recent years I was often too tired to do my usual cardio workout due to a busy work schedule as well as being a mom of two small children. I always wanted to be in better shape, not only for the aesthetic benefits, but due to often feeling weak and tired. I wanted to be able to play actively with my children without frequent aches and pains in my back or my shoulders. I knew my posture could be better but was not prepared to invest the time in yoga or pilates classes. The most surprising thing about this program is that there are no cardio workouts involved. As a physician, I always thought that cardio was an essential part of any good fitness program along withtime intensive classes, weight training etc. The Gregoreks make a compelling argument in their book, based on physiology and their years of experience, to focus on weight training in order to achieve better fitness, flexibility and youthfulness. Their incorporation of mindful breathing and relaxation into the exercises is innovative and makes the program enjoyable. In just five weeks I have lost weight and noticed a significant improvement in my posture, flexibility and overall fitness level. The best part about the program is that you can do the exercises at home! I just cancelled my gym membership. The program has three different sets of exercises to learn and the standard recommendation is to learn a new set each week for the first three weeks. I am proceeding much more slowly with the program because it is more manageable for me. I just started learning the second set of exercises after five weeks and yet still have had really impressive results. The diet they have you follow is a little difficult at first, but I have adjusted and am now much more mindful of the quantity and quality of what I consume. Jerzy Gregorek is very accessible by email for questions and he let me know that a video of the program should be available this spring. I am truly grateful to the Gregoreks for publishing this book so more people can benefit from their remarkable approach to a healthy and happy body.
