Bought these slightly larger for my twins who are 6.5 years old at the moment (July), ahead of time ready for autumn/winter as they were a great price. As per other reviews these are definitely thin. They're only very slightly padded, not thickly padded puffer gilets. In fact, in some areas it feels as though there's barely any filling. However, they're nice and long which means less chance of cold catching at their hips, the hood is a lovely size and just comes over their forehead, which is nice for helping keep rain out of their eyes, and it's a good fitting hood - not too small, and not overly large, like some gilet hoods can be. Plus they've got little adjustable pully things to tighten the hood a little when it's windy.Overall, it'll be a nice light gilet for cool autumn days over a long sleeve top, and in winter, though it's thinner, I'm sure it'll be perfectly fine and warm worn over a hoodie, t-shirt and vest. The fact that it's shower proof is another bonus. For £15 a great bargain.Found the fit to be true to size for 5 year old daughter, able to fit a t-shirt and or sweater underneath comfortably and a good length allowing for some growing.Lovely colours and easy to match and contrast with other items, looks really smart on. It is lightweight with a good amount of padding, perfect for layering. We have bought a number Mountain Warehouse garments over the years and always find them to be of good quality for the price point, this is no exception. My only minor gripe is that it doesn't have any pockets which in my opinion would have been a nice practical touch.Lovely colours and whilst there is a little padding it’s not too thick or restrictive. It’s a snug fit on my just 2 year old and not sure it would go over any more than the T-shirt’s we have used it with. Although I wouldn’t want the 3 years as this one is more than long enough- almost too long but child will grow so not a massive issue. The zip is quite high under the chin but has material to protect the skin.I’d buy again.Brought for my daughters birthday she loves the bright colour and says it’s very comfortable to wear it fits nicely with room for a jumper underneath my daughter wears hers over her school uniform. I brought a size 9-10 for my small 9 year old it’s for plenty of room to fit a thick jumper underneath on colder days or just over a thin top on a chilly morningI've given this gilet five stars all round because my 5 year old grandson is very pleased with it. He seems to be warm and it fits him nicely. It certainly feels thick enough to keep out the cold and he likes the design. His Mum seems to think that its "just the job", which means that its fine!
